The following proposals were put before the MLCGA Annual General Meeting held on Monday, December 5 2011, at Hendon Golf Club.

1) That Rule 12(c) of the Middlesex Ladies’ Golf Association Rules be amended as follows:

“Notice of the AGM, with a copy of the Agenda and a Statement
of Accounts, will be available electronically to each Member fourteen
days prior to the date of the Meeting. A hard copy shall be made available
upon request”,

Proposed by Jennifer Pizey; seconded by Anne Henderson

2) “That the use of Distance Measuring Devices (DMDs) be allowed
in all Middlesex intra-county competitions”.

Proposed by Jennifer Pizey; seconded by Diana Rowlands.

In a show of hands, both proposals were accepted unanimously and these amendments will be incorporated in the Rules.

Winners

Adult – Lindsay Williams from Ealing with a reduction of 11.8

Junior – Daniella Ubasa from Pinner Hill with a reduction of 19.0

Our first match of the season was against HERTS on Thursday 28^th April at Mill Green. The course was in great condition, and our hosts looked after us very well.

We played seven singles and lost Lost 4½ / 2½.  Pattie Barratt and Irene Riley were our two winners, with one of our newer players, Linda Wray, managing a half.   This was not a bad result as, again, we found ourselves playing against lower handicappers. 

Next, we played against BUCKS on Wednesday 15^th June at Grim’s Dyke. The format was 7 Greensomes (14 players!) and we lost 5-2.   We had to field a team of much higher handicappers than usual.  Also, one of our players was a “no-show”, so we didn’t do too badly in the circumstances. The Bucks organiser was very complimentary about the course and catering. She suggested that we play 4x4BBB in future as, like ourselves, she found that it is much too hard to get firm commitment from 14 players.  This we have agreed, and next year’s fixture will be that format (requiring only 8 players), and is arranged for 25^th June 2012 at Burnham Beeches.

Our away match against ESSEX was played on Wednesday 13th July at West Essex. The format was 4 x 4BBB and we won 4-0!! This was our strongest team fielded so far, and it showed in the result. Many thanks to Pattie Barratt who again captained the team. Sadly, this will be our last match against Essex, as they have indicated that they will be dropping this fixture from their calendar in future.  Along with Surrey Seniors, we tried unsuccessfully to get them to change their minds.  However, they are adamant that they will only play counties in the EAST Region in future, so that’s that! 

Finally, we played against SURREY seven singles on Friday 22nd July at Highgate, and again won, this time by 4-3 – 3 winners and 2 halved matches!!  This was another very strong team for us, and it was good to see Pat Hone back and fighting fit again.  It was also Mary Wilson’s swansong as she is off to live in Norfolk. She went out in style with a great victory (5 and 4) against one of her old friends and opponents. 

We held the Seniors Summer Meeting on Thursday 18^th August at Northwood Golf Club, and although the club did everything to make the day, it was somewhat spoiled by terrible weather, almost non-stop rain, and eventually, flooded greens!  What a pity, as we had a good entry number, 60, and the catering was superb. The ladies of Northwood went out of their way in welcoming us and supporting us throughout the day.  Thanks to the generosity of Northwood in donating balls for the ball sweep, and the high entry number, we made a profit of approx £112, and still managed to give out 14 prizes, and two extra ones (a 4 ball at each of Northwood and Hendon Golf Courses).  The Hume Goblets were won by two Northwood Ladies, Liz Foster and Rosemary Rawlinson, with 35 points.

The Inter County Seniors Team Championship was held on Monday 26th September at Frilford Heath Golf Club and we were represented by a very strong team of Lulu Housman, Rita Davidson, Anne Koychev and Christine Phillips, with Sandie Meacher standing by as our reserve.  Our County President, Margaret Monaghan, was our non playing Captain.  The winners were Oxfordshire with an excellent score of 237. They did have two ladies from Frilford Heath playing for them, but it was still a very good score.  Middlesex came 7^th out of the ten counties.

Next year the event will be held at Worthing Golf Club, on Monday 24^th September 2012.
