2009 STOVOLD CUP Results
Middx Second Team played Surrey in the third of four South-East Region matches at Northwood on 27th July narrowly losing to Surrey 6 ½ to 5 ½.
This was our closest result yet this year against a County who have won all three of their matches so far. We excelled ourselves in the morning foursomes matches winning 2 ½ to 1 ½ in rather damp conditions but when the sun came out in the afternoon we weren’t able to quite match their singles play and gained just 3 wins.
Our congratulations go to Carol Masters who was awarded her County Colours on Monday having achieved 5 wins in 5 matches; this must be a record! The final match will be against Kent at Rochester & Cobham on Friday 7th August.
